Dialog on the Obama Inauguration between Noah denkt™ and its Alter Ego,

Question by Alter Ego of Noah denkt™ (AE): What impressions does Noah denkt™ take away from yesterday’s
inauguration?
Answer by Noah denkt™ (Nd): The short answer is this:
Great symbolism in the fact that the first African-American can win the Presidency; A noble effort to unite and take
a middle of the road policy approach; correct in assessing the scope of the challenge that lies ahead; correct in
invoking the need for character and sacrifice,
but still too hazy in thinking in order to be able to truly resolve the challenges ahead.
In other words, Noah denkt™ believes that reality will eventually tear apart the loftiness of Mr. Obama’s rhetoric,
and that the lack of clarity in his thinking will become painstakingly apparent as time goes by.
AE: Which means that you stick to the cautious sentiment that you earlier on expressed about him. (See our
comment. “The cynics say...”)
Nd: Correct.
AE: But you have to admit that on two counts your assessment of Mr. Obama has already been proven wrong.
Nd: Which are they?
AE: Well, first of all, he did win the Presidency, contrary to your predictions. And secondly, he did in deed hit the
ground running with his administration.
Nd: Right.
AE. So if reality has shown that you are so fundamentally wrong on these two points doesn’t that indicate that you
might be equally wrong in your “tearing apart” prognosis.
Nd: Could be. But we doubt it.
AE: In other words, you do not believe that Mr. Obama’s views will become clearer and more pointed as time goes
by?
Nd: Again, it is possible, but we doubt it
AE: Why is that?
Nd: Because he has spent too much time and effort on imitating and grooming the appearance based skills that
make him look Presidential, so that he will not have enough space now to get to the philosophical roots that are
behind the present problems.
AE: But these problems weren’t yet known when he started his political career?
Nd: Well, it was clear even twenty years ago, that capitalism posed tremendous challenges which cannot be
resolved by government regulation only.
AE: Granted. But do you honestly think that someone can achieve both things at once, i.e. get to the root of the
philosophical problem and develop the presentational skills which can win him the Presidency?
Nd: Surely, it won’t be easy to do that. At the same time though, you cannot ask of others to make the seemingly
impossible possible, if you yourself have do not equally embark on a similar risk-taking approach.
AE: But the fact of the matter is, that Mr. Obama is in deed a pioneer. After all, it would have been inconceivable
only twenty years, that an African-american could win the Presidency in the first place?
Nd: And you think that it is enough to point towards the color of your skin in order to inspire the existential can-do
belief which alone can resolve the present economic challenges?
AE: In this instance, yes!
Nd: Okay, let’s see then which one of our two speculations turns out to be the more adequate.
AE: Alright, let’s wait and see.
