Dialog on Israel’s Anti-Hamas-Campaign between Noah denkt™ and its Alter Ego, first drafted
on Jan. 12, published on Jan. 13, 2009
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question by Alter Ego of Noah denkt™ (AE): Why hasn’t Noah denkt™ published anything about the current
Middle East Crisis?
Answer by Noah denkt™ (Nd): Two reasons: First, it is being covered by others ad nauseam, so that there is no
need to add our voice to this. And secondly and more importantly, it is impossible for us, from our vantage point,
to formulate a coherent opinion about who is right and who is wrong and who is to blame for what here.

AE: In other words, you do not consider Israel’s response to the rocket attacks by Hamas as disproportionate?
Nd: Surely, it is disproportionate. But so is Hamas’ fundamentalism.

AE: Which leads you to the conclusion that it is useless to even address the issue.
Nd: Correct. After all, both sides are so intransigent in this than there really isn’t a lot that outsiders can do for
them.

AE: Does that however justify leaving each party to their respective fate?
Nd: More or less so, yes.

AE: What does “more or less” mean in in this context.
Nd: Well, it means that we have nothing against the diplomatic attempts that are being put in place now to resolve
the issue somewhat peacefully.

AE: Noah denkt™, however, would not lend itself to lead such a peace initiative if it were in a position of political
power and responsibility?
Nd: Don’t know. Perhaps we would have to do something along these lines, but, probably we would not be doing
this with a lot of conviction.

AE: And you consider this an adequate stance for an outfit that is of German origin? After all, it is in large part
due to Germany’s historic atrocities that the current Middle East problem even exists.
Nd: Obviously, it would be nice to able to provide a magic solution that would resolve the conflict. But,
unfortunately, you cannot broker an agreement where both sides do not want to have one.

AE: Should you then not at least be active on the humanitarian front.
Nd: Certainly.

AE: Okay. Thanks for clarifying this.
Nd. You are welcome.
